Welcome to what I hope will be our new long term home.
After a long time of deliberation, I have decided it was time to attempt to migrate the community to a new place.
Why ditch discord in favor of a forum, you may ask? Well, there are a few reasons I can think of...
The forum is not without its drawbacks, notably with the loss of Voice Channels. Although we do have a Teamspeak server (https://apunogames.com/forum/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=2) as an alternative, access on mobile is currently limited (and most important not free, though this will change in the future according to the Teamspeak team) and screensharing is also not quite on point.
We might also go down periodically, although usually not for long. In the event that the forum and Teamspeak go down for an extended period of time, we will communicate through our Emergency IRC Channel (https://irc.apunogames.com/) to keep you updated.
Should you have any suggestion on how to improve the forum, please do share with us, it'd be greatly appreciated. This is meant to be your home, too.

- Discord absolutely sucks. This is news to nobody. The constant enshittification is all too tiresome. And it won't get better.
- Over-reliance on AI. This isn't a "le AI bad" complaint, but rather the fact that they use AI for critical tasks such as detecting child sexual abuse material, which leads to false positives. This isn't exclusive to Discord, and this is a serious problem.
- Alarmingly large population of predators. This community contains minors, and Discord is simply not a safe platform for them. Not to throw serious accusations, but it's suspicious how they barely do anything to combat it.
- Gated community. Resources shared on Discord are locked behind the guild, making it impossible for guests to access. This can include tips, fixes, or even development information. I'm in favor of publicly accessible information that does not require you to create an account.
- The push for identity verification. Although we may not be fully spared from this, I believe moving away will help users who rightfully refuse to give away their private information to Discord and their partners. The internet is a place of freedom and anonimity above all else, and giving up on these values is giving up on what made the internet so special in the first place.
