Been replaying through the 3D games and I have been having a blast. Rockstar don't make games like this anymore and it's a shame.
GTA 3 has been getting some hate because it "aged poorly" and is "too hard". I did not experience that until the very last mission, mostly because i hadn't bothered collecting hidden packages. Even then, with a slow and methodical approach, the mission was rather easy.
Vice City has been harder but in a good way. Super fun game, the asset missions are the lowest point in the game and it's not even bad.
I'm currently playing San Andreas, which I've never finished as child, because of how stupid fun it is to cause chaos. Even now I struggle to just do the missions instead of goofing around.
I'm considering replaying through Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. I believe I've finished them both when I was a kid and since they're not new maps I'm not sure it's worth going back into them. VCS was definitely the best one of the 2 though. I'm also thinking of just putting GTA IV in the list even though it's not the same era anymore.

- [ALL] SilentPatch (fixes a bunch of stuff, but because of scope creep, also restores cut content and whatnot which you can't toggle off)
- [ALL] WidescreenFix (fixes widescreen related issues, and, due to scope creep in an update from literally days ago, replaces the fps limiter option with different fps values? why? how is it widescreen related? you can never hate [them] enough)
- [ALL] GInput (restores proper controller support)
- [ALL] FramerateVigilante (lets you play above 30 fps without major issues)
- [ALL] ModLoader (loads asset mods like models without replacing game files)
- [ALL] SkyGFX (THE mod to have. Restores the beautiful PS2 graphics that are missing on PC. San Andreas has other presets too.)
- [ALL] Project2DFX (makes the background more lively, with building and street lights, and moving traffic (shown as lights as well) in the distance)
- [ALL] Ultimate ASI Loader (loads all the other mods on this list, directly or indirectly. the file needs to be renamed to vorbisFile.dll for San Andreas)
- [III/VC] ClassicAxis (enchances mouse+kb controls on foot)
- [III/VC] SACarCam (lets you freely rotate your camera with mouse or right stick in vehicles, like in San Andreas)
- [VC] XboxHands (replaces cutscene hands with the Xbox's version)
- [VC] Xbox Vehicle Fix (replaces vehicles with the Xbox's version (higher details) and fixes them as well)
